CVE-2017-6742

Cisco IOS and IOS XE Software

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) subsystem of Cisco IOS and IOS XE contains a vulnerability that could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to remotely execute code on an affected system or cause an affected system to reload.

Exploitation status

  • CISA has confirmed this is being exploited in the wild. That is an observation of real attacks, not a prediction.
  • US federal civilian agencies are required to remediate it by 2023-05-10. That deadline does not bind private companies, but it is a reasonable benchmark for how urgently CISA views it.
