Sudo Sudo
Sudo contains an inclusion of functionality from untrusted control sphere vulnerability. This vulnerability could allow local attacker to leverage sudo’s -R (--chroot) option to run arbitrary commands as root, even if they are not listed in the sudoers file.
Exploitation status
- CISA has confirmed this is being exploited in the wild. That is an observation of real attacks, not a prediction.
- US federal civilian agencies are required to remediate it by 2025-10-20. That deadline does not bind private companies, but it is a reasonable benchmark for how urgently CISA views it.
