Openoffice Openoffice

CVE-2006-2198

OpenOffice.org (aka StarOffice) 1.1.x up to 1.1.5 and 2.0.x before 2.0.3 allows user-assisted attackers to conduct unauthorized activities via an OpenOffice document with a malicious BASIC macro, which is executed without prompting the user.

What this means for your business

  • It affects Openoffice. It matters if your company, or a supplier that handles your data, runs it.
  • An attacker can use it remotely, over a network.
  • FIRST's prediction model gives it a 3% chance of attack attempts being seen in the next 30 days, ranking above 88% of all known flaws.

What to do

  1. 1Check whether your company or your suppliers run Openoffice, and which version. The affected versions are listed further down this page.
  2. 2If you do, apply the vendor's fix. A patch or vendor advisory has been published.
