Redhat Enterprise Linux

CVE-2023-1380

A slab-out-of-bound read problem was found in brcmf_get_assoc_ies in drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmfmac/cfg80211.c in the Linux Kernel. This issue could occur when assoc_info->req_len data is bigger than the size of the buffer, defined as WL_EXTRA_BUF_MAX, leading to a denial of service.

What this means for your business

  • It affects Redhat Enterprise Linux. It matters if your company, or a supplier that handles your data, runs it.
  • An attacker can use it only with access to the machine itself, with an ordinary user login, and without anyone at your company clicking anything.
  • FIRST's prediction model gives it a 17% chance of attack attempts being seen in the next 30 days, ranking above 96% of all known flaws.

What to do

  1. 1Check whether your company or your suppliers run Redhat Enterprise Linux, and which version. The affected versions are listed further down this page.
  2. 2If you do, apply the vendor's fix. A patch or vendor advisory has been published.
